Lindsey Golf Course is an 18-hole Military golf course located in Fort Knox, Kentucky. The course is open to the public.
Lindsey Golf Course was constructed in 1933 and named after MG Julian R. Lindsey, who worked with course designer, Buck Blankenship, in its layout and design.
Lindsey Golf Course hosted its most prestigious event to date - the Kentucky State Open. PGA legend Byron Nelson was crowned the champion with a score of 236 (-8). Picturesque Lindsey Golf Course is located on the Fort Knox Army Installation, home of the famous Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor and the United States Department of Treasury Bullion Depository - sorry, no samples given and no tours allowed!
Lindsey has undergone several renovations and additions in recent years making Lindsey a destination golf course throughout the surrounding communities and the Louisville Metropolitan area. Lindsey has two new lakes that are strategically placed to enhance the golf course aesthetics and supplying the course with unlimited irrigation water.
One of the new lakes is on hole #5, a Par 5 with water down the right side for your tee shot and a challenging second shot over water to a very undulated green with a false front. This is a risk and reward Par 5. You could make an eagle or a double bogey and not hit a bad shot. The second of their new lakes is on hole #1 and hole #18 with a picturesque black iron bridge. Hole #18 is one of the hardest Par 4's in the state of Kentucky with your second shot with a long iron and all carry over water to reach a narrow, undulated, two-tiered green guarded with a bunker.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,661 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,302 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 530 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 156 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 439 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Lindsey Golf Course is # 12, the 156 yard par-3.
